Columbian banks taps Gemalto for EMV

Tuesday, September 13, 2011

Gemalto announced that it is providing Colsubsidio, a Compensation Fund in Colombia, with multi-application EMV cards.

The Multi Service Membership Card provides all Colsubsidio members with the security of EMV payment, combined with a range of services. These services include an e-purse application, admittance to recreational parks, as well as access to sport and convention centers.

The contactless feature of the card provides easy and convenient access to public transportation in the city of Bogota. Gemalto also supplied Colsubsidio with a software solution for in-house card personalization as well as technical support during the launching phase.

Gemalto’s technology enables Colsubsidio to integrate all of their services and those of their partners on to one card. It’s designed to give cardholders a more enjoyable experience, where they can “wave” their way onto public transportation, access participating venues, and securely pay for goods and services, with a convenient solution. [end]
