Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Over the next two months, the Smart Card Alliance will be hosting some events geared toward the financial services and security industries.

The first is a webinar designed to help merchants and acquirers adapt from magnetic stripe cards to EMV chip cards. This free webinar, entitled EMV for Merchants and Acquirers: U.S. Migration Considerations, will take place on Thursday, October 6 at 1 p.m. EDT.

During the webinar, a panel of experts will provide a primer to the changes merchants and acquirers will need to make in order to support EMV technology. The panelists include Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance; Oliver Manahan, vice president of emerging payments, MasterCard Worldwide; Guy Berg, senior industry consultant, Datacard Group; Simon Hurry, senior business leader, Visa, Inc. and Amer Matar, chief technology officer, Moneris Solutions Corporation.

In November, the SCA will host its tenth annual Government Conference for security and identity initiatives. This conference, which brings government agencies together with the security and identity communities, will take place on November 2 - 4, with pre-conference workshops taking place on November 1. The conference will be held at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.

At the conference, more than 75 government leaders and program managers will discuss the government’s market demands and latest developments, as well as discuss how they provide opportunities and present challenges to government issuers, accreditation and testing authorities, procurement programs and other industry providers.

The Smart Card Alliance will also administer its Certified Smart Card Industry Professional (CSCIP) Certification and government-focused CSCIP/G exams at the conference. [end]
